Both sides had scored within the opening 5 minutes. Burnt Ash struck first but a fine solo effort down the right saw Dan Fryer slot home to equalise virtually immediately. Then 2 goals from ‘skipper Nigel Swaffer saw Maidstone take a 3-1 lead midway through the first half, only to have that cancelled out by half time when lapses of concentration in defence resulted in 2 goals from Burnt Ash.
The second half saw Burnt Ash pressing and dominating possession. Despite fine saves by Mark Smith in goal within 20 minutes Maidstone were 5-3 down. Josh Lake managed to get one back and although Maidstone pressed hard for the equaliser, it was not to be. Paul Holkham was again MOM due to his constant probing, strong running and assists.
