Maidstone made a sprightly start in this bottom of the table clash and within minutes came close to scoring. The game was even and Maidstone managed some positive forward play whilst dealing with a number of Dartford attacks until, that is, the opposition managed to slip a gentle ball between a Maidstone defender and the keeper to go ahead before half time.
Determined to battle to stay off the bottom, Maidstone again put some really good passing play together and joint Player of the Match Lucy Wilkinson was solid in providing from the midfield. Unfortunately, a quick break saw Maidstone’s defence too far up the pitch and unable to track back, Dartford got their second. Nicky Bourne channelled her frustration into her clean penalty corner strike and Maidstone found themselves back in it at 1-2. Unfortunately, Maidstone were again caught on the break whilst optimistically pushing forward for an equaliser, and Dartford’s centre forward sailed up the pitch to find herself one-on-one with keeper Freya Brown who could not hold her off on this occasion. Young keeper Brown had another phenomenally brave game and deservedly shared Player of the Match with Wilkinson.
