Unlucky not to convert goal opportunities

The Ladies 4s travelled to Sevenoaks to resume their league campaign. With a few players trying different positions they started positively but annoyingly allowed Sevenoaks to find a gap in defence to go one ahead. Maidstone retaliated and were soon awarded a penalty corner which Nicky Bourne cleanly converted to equalise. Similar defensive errors gave Sevenoaks too much time and room in the circle, and at half time they were 3-1 up.
Maidstone continued to battle and the whole game was end to end throughout. Maidstone’s young forwards found excellent positions and were so unlucky not to convert several accurate crosses provided by Tracey Murphy-Bellchambers. Joint player of the match Jack Williamson, playing forward for the first time, also provided great shooting opportunities. Maidstone must focus on tightening their man-to-man marking in the defensive circle to prevent a fast-breaking opposition capitalising on goal, as Sevenoaks did a further 4 times in the second half to make it 7-1 on the final whistle, which disappointingly did not reflect the game as a whole.
