Maidstone Ladies 4's again fielded a very fresh-faced development side this week with a debut for two more up-and-coming juniors, goalkeeper Freya Brown and forward Kate Smoker. Both gave impressive and confident performances that earned them joint Player of the Match. Smoker had a dream start to her adult hockey career, slotting home passed the Burnt Ash keeper to give the 4's their first goal of the season. Brown was imposing in goal, diving athletically to save at full stretch on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, Burnt Ash were the stronger team on the attack creating some well-worked goals. Nicky Bourne scored Maidstone’s second with a clean strike from the edge of the circle. The new side continue to build and must tighten their defence but are buoyed by this week’s goals. The match finished 2-7.
