A mix and match Maidstone, with captain Nicky Bourne having to play in goal, put up a really good fight against Herne Bay. Maidstone started positively, beating Herne Bay to the ball from the off, which resulted in some well worked attacks. Nicky Coomansingh, POMwas unlucky not to score on numerous occasions. Defence had been tight until a lone Herne Bay forward broke and wrong-footed the stand-in keeper to go ahead before half time.
Maidstone attacked solidly throughout the second half, but again a break saw an untidy second goal for Herne Bay. Not defeated yet, the attackers were at last rewarded and newcomer Tracey Murphy-Bellchambers slotted home on her debut. Maidstone ran out of time to find an equaliser but this had been a really promising and close game played again with great spirit.
