Maidstone Ladies 4ths and Gravesend 2nds had to battle the rain throughout an
evenly matched game. Maidstone were frustrated when Nicky Bourne’s opening goal
was not allowed because the umpire had already blown for a penalty corner.
Thankfully this was quickly redressed when Claire Hogan took the corner, pushing
the ball out to captain Kay Bowley who slipped it straight back to Hogan to sweep it
pass the keeper. Gravesend retaliated with a goal from a quick break just before half
time.
The second half was an end to end battle through fog and rain with Maidstone
disappointed not to find a winning goal.
Defender Helen Reeves put in a strong performance to earn player of the match.
