Maidstone Ladies 4s faced a tough challenge against a skilled and fast-paced Marden Ladies 5s side, ultimately falling to a 7-0 defeat despite their best efforts.
With a squad of 14 players, Maidstone aimed to use fresh legs to their advantage, knowing the notoriously talented Marden team would dominate possession. The home side wasted no time proving their strength, with their young and agile players making it difficult for Maidstone to gain control. After a couple of quick goals from Marden, Maidstone finally saw an opportunity through a short corner, but their attempt was well-defended, keeping them off the scoreboard.
At half-time, Maidstone were fatigued but determined, using the break to regroup and refuel. With tactical adjustments, they returned to the pitch ready to keep fighting.
However, Marden continued their relentless attack, testing Maidstone’s defense time and again. Despite incredible saves from goalkeeper Michelle Smith, who made some remarkable stops throughout the game, the opposition maintained their intensity, adding to their lead. Maidstone pushed forward with strong runs and passes, but Marden proved too clinical, securing their dominant win.
Though disappointed, Maidstone kept spirits high, looking forward to their post-match reward of sausages, chips, and baked beans. Michelle Smith was deservedly named Player of the Match for her heroic efforts in goal, with Kate Bowen, Jamie Cronk, and Sasha also earning recognition for their outstanding contributions.
Maidstone will now regroup and look ahead to their next match, ready to put this game behind them and come back stronger. Well played, ladies!
