Maidstone Ladies 4s vs Burnt Ash

Louisa Coffey8 Dec 2024 - 21:01

Another win for Maidstone ladies 4s

In one of the coldest and harshest matches of the season, Maidstone Ladies 4s braved icy rain and biting winds to take on Burnt Ash in a thrilling game. Despite the stormy conditions, Maidstone displayed determination and skill, dominating possession in the first half. However, repeated attempts on goal were thwarted by Burnt Ash’s resilient goalkeeper, leaving the scoreline unchanged at halftime.

During the break, the team regrouped with some much-needed sweets, which seemed to invigorate their spirits. The second half began with renewed energy, and it wasn’t long before Ava made a decisive move, tapping the ball past the Burnt Ash keeper to secure the opening goal. Cheers erupted from both the team and the brave spectators who had weathered the storm to support them.

Maidstone continued to push, and their hard work paid off again when Nicky Bourne found the net from a well-executed short corner. This long-awaited goal was a highlight of the game, with Nicky thrilled to contribute to the victory.

Despite strong competition from Burnt Ash and the relentless elements, Maidstone held their ground. The final whistle blew with the score at 2-0, a hard-earned victory that reflected both skill and resilience.

The harsh weather took its toll, with three players forced to leave the pitch during the second half to recover from the extreme cold. Those who remained soldiered on valiantly until the end, and the team wasted no time heading into the warmth of the clubhouse afterward.

A special thank you goes to the supporters who braved the conditions, escorted players to the warmth, made tea, and provided towels to dry off. The post-match reward of baked potatoes with cheese and beans, prepared by the club volunteers, was a comforting end to a challenging day.

Player of the Match honors went to Sally for her outstanding performance in midfield, keeping the team’s momentum alive. Well done, Sally, and well done to all the Maidstone Ladies 4s for their grit and determination in tough conditions!
