A well earned win for the Ladies 4s

What a thrilling field hockey match we witnessed as Maidstone Ladies 4s faced off against Faversham Ladies 1s on their home turf! The game started as a nail-biter, but the tenacity of both teams was evident from the get-go.

In the early stages of the match, Faversham managed to slip a sneaky goal past the returning keeper, Michelle Smith, and the resilient Maidstone defensive line. However, the Maidstone ladies weren't ones to back down. With unwavering determination, they surged forward, and Nicky Bourne came through with a magnificent goal from a short corner, leveling the score at 1-1.

Half-time arrived, and the Maidstone ladies took a well-deserved break, refueling with some sweets before returning to the pitch. There, they showed their deep respect for remembrance with a touching 2-minute silence.

The second half brought a burst of energy and excitement. Junior player Amber made her mark with a quick goal, beautifully assisted by Laura Boorman. Amber's skill and determination allowed her to slip past the opposition keeper, securing another point for Maidstone. Laura Boorman wasn't to be outdone and showcased her prowess by dodging Faversham players left and right before firmly planting her own goal on the backboard.

Faversham didn't back down and managed to net one more goal against the Maidstone team. However, this wasn't enough to halt the determined Maidstone players. They were soon awarded an attacking short corner, and the stage was set for an epic moment. Nicky Bourne and Laura Boorman lined up their shots, but it was junior player Hannah who seized the opportunity, catching a deflection from the Faversham keeper and guiding the ball across the line, securing Maidstone's 4-2 victory.

The player of the match votes reflected the incredible teamwork and effort of today's players, with votes split nine ways. The ultimate winner, junior player Bella, stood out, closely followed by the exceptional performances of Natalie Ferguson and Tegan Wimble.

A special shoutout goes to Michelle Smith for her outstanding performance as the returning keeper, and a heartfelt thank you to the cheerleader team, consisting of Elliot Robinson, Nicky Coomansingh, Robyn Wickman, and the young Skye, for their unwavering support and enthusiasm throughout the game.

This match was an incredible showcase of skill, determination, and teamwork, and it's moments like these that make field hockey such an exciting and inspiring sport. Well done, Maidstone Ladies 4s!
