Maidstone Ladies 4s accepted an invitation from K Sports to play their young development side to ensure a run around in a week where there were no league games. With many of the regular and more experienced players unavailable due to half term, there was an opportunity for some of the newer players to get some match experience.

Storm Dennis provided some additional challenges but was thankfully only just building - it was much worse for the hardy spectators than the players on pitch!

Captain Nicky Bourne and Vice Michelle Smith led out a side who may have been lacking in experience, but they more than made up for it in enthusiasm. Elizabeth Oakley and Kazia Stuart-Macdonald made solid debuts in defence and Lucy Seabourne and Rebekah Maynard showed they were gaining confidence in only their second game.

The game itself was end to end throughout. The Maidstone midfield progressed the ball up the pitch well to provide the forwards with chances but the keeper could never quite be beaten. K Sports were always the stronger team on attack with some very fast youngsters successfully working together to threaten the defence. Maidstone’s keeper Niamh O’Reilly was certainly kept busy and pulled off some acrobatic saves to keep the score down – but K Sports managed to score two in each half to win 4-0.

Player of the match went to Lucy Seabourne who showed versatility, strength and great potential in midfield.
