With way too many drawn games this season the 3s wanted a win and set up with a more positive formation to help utilise the pace of the youngsters.
The defence of Caroline, Lu, Bella and Liv sweeping in front were rarely troubled defensively ( but keeper Kate was always alert making a couple of good stops) allowing them as a unit to push higher up the pitch and feed the play into the mids.
Katie and Hannah were both exceptional in holding the middle of the pitch allowing both Ava and Sasha to make numerous driving runs down the wings and cross great balls into the D for shrey, Robyn and Liv to have some chances. The deadlock was broken 5 minutes from time when after 2 practice short corners in succession the 3rd was converted with a straight strike from Julie into the bottom left corner.
The second half was mainly dominated by Maidstone possession, Liv and Bella both grew in confidence at carrying the ball out of the defensive half and driving higher up the pitch, Liv L was unlucky not to get on the score sheet when a close range effort was just blocked by the keeper, Robyn unluckily hit the post and the keeper made a good stop from another short corner strike.
