Maidstone we’re determined to put in a much better team performance today after last weeks disappointing loss and a change of formation was deployed. Maidstone looked good in the opening 10 minutes switching play combined with some exhilarating attacking play down the wings from Nikki, Ava and Liv. We had a few half chances but couldn’t capitalise and although the defensive unit of Jaime, Caroline, smithy, Lu, Bella and Kate in goal were organised we unfortunately conceded 2 short corners and could do little to stop 2 well placed shots to undeservedly trail 2-0 at half time.
Having been the better team for large parts of the first half we were determined as a team to to make possession count in the second half. The midfield line of Nikki, Ava, Katie, Ellie and Liv were dominant in winning possession and progressing us forward at pace to create goal scoring opportunities and the breakthrough come five minutes in when Hannah played a delightfully deceiving reverse pass out to Liv on the right who intelligently drove into the d and draw the keeper out just far enough to then slip a pass left to Robyn to score. Maidstone were now pretty much the dominant team searching for a deserved equaliser which eventually came 5 minutes from time when a well
placed short corner strike was just about stopped on the line but Ava was perfectly placed to force the ball over to make the final score 2-2. POM Liv L. Match report by Julie Davies
