Maidstone started the game positively and played some good flowing hockey with everyone passing and moving with great awareness. With 14 players there was quite a bit of rotation and the back line of Caroline, Jaime, Liv, Bella, Smithy and Kate in goal were all very organised throughout the match and playing good balls into the mid line of Ellie, Katie, Ava and Nikki who all fought well to keep possession and put in some excellent passes for the forward line of Robyn, Hannah, Julie and Liv to attack and create some scoring half chances that just lacked that final touch. When Sevenoaks created a couple of chances in the first half, Kate was on hand and alert to make some great saves but neither team could break the deadlock.
The second half started of rather more scrappy with both teams struggling to maintain any meaningful possession but as the half progressed Maidstone kept the ball better and again created some chances with some great crosses but again just left wanting that final touch. On the balance of play Maidstone were probably marginally the better team but this week just couldn’t find the net. Final score 0-0. POM Olivia Furnival. Match report by Julie Davies
