3s v Sevenoaks
Hoping to keep the momentum of last weeks win Maidstone struggled to get to grips with the game early on and the defence of Caroline, smithy, Lu, Bella and Liv with Vicky in goal were being put under immense pressure from Sevenoaks with what felt like wave after wave of attacks but as a unit they tackled well to frustrate the oppo. Unfortunately though Sevenoaks managed to brake the deadlock after 10 minutes .
However having gone a goal down the Maidstone midfield of Jaime, Nikki, Ava and Katie rallied and began to gain some control of the game all making some great interceptions and driving runs to be able to play the ball in behind for the forward line of Ellie, Hannah, Robyn and the blind one to have some shots at goal . Keeping some pressure on the Sevenoaks defence Maidstone found the equaliser ten minutes before half time when the visually impaired Julie, took a quick free hit and drove to the edge of the D and her cross was superbly met by Hannah to strike the ball into the left corner of the goal. Sevenoaks tried to put some more pressure on the defence just before half time but Vicky made a great save from a short corner to keep the score level at half time.
Lu made a tactical change to the formation for the second by putting Liv in the middle and it worked a treat by protecting the back line and allowing Liv and Katie to combine well in playing the ball out to the midfield with Jaime, Nikki and Ava then able to press higher up the pitch playing some great balls into the channels allowing the forwards to get crosses in and attack the goal with Robyn, Ellie, Hannah and Nikki all going close to giving us the lead. The team were all battling and pressing well and with around 5 minutes to go found the winner from a short corner when smithy slipped the ball left to Julie, who had made a series of cracking runs up front, made a mis hit shot that some how managed to just roll past the defence and over the goal line.
