Ladies 3s were away against Knole Park with a late push back for a top of the table clash. We knew it would be a tough match at Knole Pk remain unbeaten and continue to work their way up the leagues until they get to where they should be but this didn't phase the team. Every single player battled hard throughout, exhausted but heads held high. Vicky was on fire in goal with relentless saves at every angle, truly fantastic to watch. The defence were formidable after numerous short corners and Becky faced off some tough balls. Lucinda, Jaime and Smithy kept pushing back against Knole Park wherever they could but to say the oppo were speedy is an understatement. We didn't falter, the midfield and forward line defended more than the norm, Katie working tirelessly in the middle amongst the very young and skilful Knole Park ladies keeping the whole team busy. By the end, Hannah was sporting a fine bruise and Julie, poorly and unable to continue. Nikki intercepted some of the runs down the line, giving the defence a brief rest and allowing Hannah and the forward to work hard in the middle and up front.
Despite the campaign against us, we did have a couple of chances up front with a fantastic cross from Ellie and lovely runs from Bea and Bethan.
The final score 8-0 loss but despite how tough the game was we really played as a team; laughed when we probably might have cried and were definitely passionate, had fire in our bellies and mostly enjoyed it!! Well done all for a courageous performance. Match report by Katie Walsh.
