Another top team performance
Maidstone Ladies 3's vs Burnt Ash was an eagerly awaited top of the table clash and Maidstone were certain they would be tested today and for the first 15 minutes they were with BA putting pressure on defence of Caroline, Smithy, Lu and Olivia and Vicky in goal. BA took the lead through a well struck short corner. The Maidstone midfield of Jaime, Nikki, Katie, Hannah and Meg the began to get hold of the play, pressing well with the defence t win the ball and with good combinations of passing began feeding the forward line of Julie, Ellie, Bethan who started creating some opportunities and win a few short corners. The equaliser came from one of those shorts when Smithy stopped the ball at the top of the D, slipped left to Julie, back to Smithy to rifle the ball into the right corner.
Maidstone were very unlucky not to be leading at half time when Nikki's excellent lifted reverse flick lodged in the top of the keepers pads with her feet well behind the goal line - umpire said "No Goal".
The second saw Maidstone then dominate the game. The defence had little defending to actually do but when they did, Lu and Olivia stopped everything. Caroline was pushing higher up the pitch combining well with Jaime, Hannah and Katies, who were controlling the middle allowing Smithy to join in attacks. Nikki and Megan were brilliant driving down the left wing.
Maidstone took a well deserved lead when Hannah cleverly fed the ball into Julie with her back to the goal to cheekily reverse flick and nutmeg the keeper to put us 2-1 up.
Maidstone could've had more with Bethan and Ellie always in good attacking space forcing some good saves and Megan agonisingly close when a strong strike had the keeper beat but was just wide. Maidstone sealed the win with a great strike by Hannah from the top of the D. Another brilliant all round team performance making it very hard to decide on a player of the match but the accolades were shared between Hannah and Katie who together dominated the middle of the pitch superbly.
