So this was the first time Maidstone 3s have played Dartford. After last weeks draw at Canterbury, the 3s started the game strongly and were soon creating chances from solid defending, some creative midfield passing and the speed of the forward line. Early in the first half, Maidstone took the lead when Georgia made a superb driving run down the right into the D and finished off with a strong strike. Maidstone continued creating chances but unfortunately Dartford managed to sneak in an equaliser just before half time.
Maidstone started the second half determined to capitalise on their good all round team play and a brilliant driving run this down the left from Megan saw her win a short corner from which Smithy neatly slipped the ball to Hannah for a powerful strike to put Maidstone back in front.
Maidstone were growing in confidence now, creating chance after chance and Claire was unlucky not to get on the score sheet with the Dartford keeper making several great saves to deny her. However, shortly before full time, an excellently executed driving cross from Claire allowed Georgia to run in on goal to fantastically turn the ball into the net to give Maidstone a well deserved 3-1 win. POM Georgia and a great all round team performance.
