Maidstone's injury jinx continued on Sunday against Harleston Magpies with two more players sustaining injuries which will keep them out of coming games. The home side came out of the blocks strongly, playing most of their hockey deep inside Magpies' half. Midway through the half, Susie Rowe pounced on a keeper's rebound to finish high in the net and put Maidstone ahead. Maidstone continued to attack throughout the half, but couldn't make the most of their superior possession before Magpies took their one chance with a well worked short corner to equal the scoreline.
Unfortunately for Stones, the second half was a different story. They battled hard but playing with the bare 11 eventually took its toll and Magpies took advantage, going ahead and then scoring a further 3 goals right at the end of the game. The final scoreline of 1-5 does not tell the story of the game of two sides who are battling at opposite ends of the table. Next week Maidstone make the long trip to Dereham in what is now a must win game!
