AWAY Bedford 2nd XI vs Ladies 1st XI

Maidstone started the game strong with high intensity play resulting in a short corner goal in the first 10 minutes. The ball was fired back to the injector, the first shot rebounding off the keeper to captain Hannah Durston who hit a bouncing reverse volley into the goal. With Maidstone defence adjusting to Bedford's attacking structure of only two 2 attackers, they continued to look strong throughout the rest of the first half, stringing clean passes together building from the back and up the right hand side. The first half saw Maidstone having minimum of 6 short corners and a lot of other attacking opportunities but with no more goals added to the tally.

The second half started with the same intensity as the first, seeing a fair amount of feisty energy from both teams. Bedford showed more strength and had more luck on the attack, having a few chances with short corners against Maidstone who defended well and managed to keep the game at 0-1. With 10 minutes to go, Maidstone scored their second short corner goal of the match with a strong slap hit from Susie Rowe that a Bedford defender attempted to stop but ended up deflecting high into the top of the net. Bedford then came out hard at Maidstone for the short remainder of the game but couldn’t get on the board. With 1 minute to go Charlotte Nudd, the well deserving player of the match, scored an impressive counter attack goal. Breaking the forward line of the press at the perfect time to attack a miss-trapped ball from Bedford in the circle, she scrapped one on one with the defender and put the ball in the goal, ending the game with Maidstone taking a 0-3 victory.
