Maidstone 0 - 4 Woking

Taking the same line out from the week prior, The ladies 1s faced Woking 1s away on Saturday.

The girls started productive, Alicia and Emma began to weave in and out of the high Woking press in the midfield where possible. The back four consisting of Sara, Rehannah, Grace and Izzie worked brilliantly in producing attacking play from the back and manipulated the Woking press to create space on the right hand side and the middle of the pitch.

Woking had a rapid and strongly manned forward line who occasionally broke through the mid and defence line. Due to this, odds were not in Maidstones’ favour and 2 goals were secured by Woking in the first half.

Going into the second half spirits were high, the girls recognised they were doing well despite the score line. Maidstone had 25 minutes of play where Woking had little opportunities on goal and when they did, shots were quickly and professionally denied by Freya. Gabs created multiple attacking opportunities for the girls with a high and aggressive press which quickly turned over the ball. Never the less, with a ‘we have nothing to lose attitude’, Maidstone structure was changed to give them more numbers going forward, unfortunately the fresh Woking legs managed to get 2 more goals past the Maidstone side within the last 8 minutes. Resulting in the score sitting at 4-0 to Woking at full time.

MOM went to Gabs who continues to do anything to avoid revision for her mocks this week. Disclaimer: Gabs is just 15 years old and has been an amazing attribute to the Maidstone Ladies 1s. Gabs continues to develop from game to game as she is growing in confidence - we will not discuss her questionable tackle during the mixed game Sunday though. Alicia and Freya also had brilliant games and they closely followed Gabs in the MOM votes.

This Saturday the Ladies 1s play Sevenoaks 2s at home (11:30PB). Sevenoaks are placed at the top of the league, it will be a hard graft, thus any side line support would be much appreciated.
