Ladies 1s v Burnt Ash 1s

This Saturday the Ladies 1s took to London, with attempts made to avoid ULEZ charges, they faced Burnt Ash 1s who were placed just above at the bottom of the league.

Maidstone commenced the game with aims to execute basics and put pressure on the ball. With adjustments to the team over the past few weeks, Maidstone presented apprehensive when the first whistle blew. Nevertheless, three short corners were won for the Maidstone side, unfortunately they could not be converted. A fair start from the girls.

Burnt Ash had a few handy ladies however overall, they had little solidity. Yet, Maidstone found it hard to distribute and make progress up the pitch. Subsequently, goals began passing the Maidstone girls. The score laid at 3-0 to Burnt Ash 20 minutes in, however, play was swiftly turned over. Sophie made rapid progress up the pitch with the ball and Char B just on her side, the goalie seemed to be non existent. Sophie placed the ball in the corner of the goal - her first goal for the ladies 1s! With another goal to Burnt Ash, long story short, the score stood at 4-1 at half time.

Going into the second half, Maidstone attempted to stretch the pitch and be more fluid with the structure on the back line to mid field. It worked for a while however overall Burnt Ash looked more dominant and robust. No goals were conceded in the second half. The score remained 4-1 at full time.

Player of the match was Emma, closely followed by Alicia and Charlotte B. In addition, a huge thanks and shout out goes to Gracey for her Ladies 1s debut!

Next Saturday the Ladies 1s remain on away turf facing a strong Woking side.
