Maidstone Ladies 1's 5-1 Loss

Maidstone looked to start the match well with a key focus on quick passes and moving off the ball however the opposition began with a high press and a result Maidstone conceded a quick early goal. This press from the opposition continued high up the pitch which resulted in a few short corners which eventually led to their second goal. Maidstone still tried to find a way through their press and this mainly came down our right hand side from some great passes and movement down the line by Izzie and Gibbo. However the pressure from Guildford continued and as a player attempted a reverse hit her stick ended up hitting Rehannah one of Maidstone’s defenders and this ruled her out of the game due to a head injury. Even though this happened Maidstone still tried to stay positive but Guildford's pressure was relentless and even though player of the match Freya in goal made some outstanding saves throughout the match Guildford managed to score 2 more quick goals. Towards the end of the first half Maidstone continued to work the ball up the pitch and with a good run with the ball by gabs and a through pass to Hannah in the D, Hannah was able to secure a penalty corner. From this the first shot on target was saved but came back out to Emma who provided an aerial ball to the back post where Charlotte Nudd was able to tap it in. This meant the first half finished 3-1.
During the second half Maidstone begun to provide more options in the middle through more rotation. Nevertheless Guildford's persistent pressure resulted in more penalty corners which Maidstone defended well but consequently did result in another goal. Freya continued to make some great saves keeping Maidstone’s hopes alive but in the end the match ended in another 5-1 loss.

Maidstone look to train hard on Tuesday to bounce back harder against Oxted next week.
