Maidstone went into this game knowing they desperately needed a win and play was fairly even despite Maidstone being a little under par and lacking in overall movement and paid the price when a well worked Kings move down their left wing resulted in them scoring the first goal after 20mins played and that’s how it stayed until half time.
Maidstone started the second half looking much more energised with everyone working hard and moving well off the ball something that was a little lacking in the first half but again like so much of the season Maidstone were unlucky to go a second goal down against the run of play 10 mins into the second half. However this time the response was immediate,Vic O’Reilly was unfortunate to have a goal disallowed but to be awarded a short corner which resulted in a powerful strike from captain Amanda Gates being slotted in at the back post by Rachel Davies to half the deficit. From then on Maidstone dominated the game and found an equaliser in the 20th min when an excellent cross by Claire Daniels from the right found Gracie Wilsher superbly slot the ball home. With the defence organised and able to snuff out any danger Maidstone again pushed forward for vic O’Reilly to win a short corner which Amanda Gates calmly converted with a well placed strike to put Maidstone in front on 25 mins. Maidstone then never really looked in too much danger and sealed the much needed win with the final move of the match when gabs O’Reilly played a great through ball to vic O’Reilly who quickly played the ball on to Pom Claire Daniels who skilfully rounded the keeper to fire home and seal amuch deserved 4-2 win.
