Maidstone started the match brightly and were generally in control for the majority of the first half. With the whole team organised and working as a unit Maidstone were creating great chances which soon resulted in a short corner which was fired into the bottom corner by Claire Daniels, 1-0 Maidstone. By now the midfield were in control and combined with good movement from the forward line Maidstone forced another short corner with the in form Daniels drilling into the corner again to give Maidstone a 2-0 lead. Gore court then managed to step their play up managing to pull a goal back shortly before half time.
The second half was a much more even affair and Maidstone were unlucky to be down to 10 when debutant Gabs O’Reilly was rather harshly shown yellow for a stick tackle, Maidstone had to adjust their shape slightly but still working well as a unit and some superb defending from captain Amanda Gates held on for the 2-1 win. Special mention to debutants Gabs O’Reilly and Rebecca Jarvis who both stepped up and totally looked part of the team.
