3s v Ashford
After last weeks narrow defeat the 3s wanted to get back to winning ways but unfortunately with in the opening 10 minutes found themselves a goal down but in hindsight it was probably the wake up call the team needed to really start firing on all cylinders. The defensive unit of Jaime, Smithy, Lu, Sally and keeper Kate tightened their line and were giving good instructions to help hold the middle allowing Jaime and Sally to feed intelligent passes to the mid line of Nikki, Katie and Jen who were then able to push high up the pitch and use the pace of youngsters Liv, Bella and Robyn to put pressure on Ashford and were soon rewarded when Bella played a great ball into the ‘hole’ player whose shot was turned in on the left post by Liv to level the score. Maidstone then started to really dominate with Nikki putting us in front from a good short corner routine and Robyn made it 3-1 before the half was over.
The second half saw Maidstone’s junior players really stepping up and taking control of the game , sally and Bella were commanding with their pace down the left and Liv growing in confidence every week starting to really show maturity with her distribution and work rate which resulted with her putting in a high cross to Robyn who got her stick up well to make it 4-1 . The scoring was completed when Jenny took control of a great pass from Jaime and managed to lob the keeper on her reverse. Final score 5-1
