Maidstone started very strong from the get go. During the first 10 minutes, many chances were created by the forwards of Bethan, Tracey, and Georgia however nothing got past the Holc’s keeper. After a quick turnaround for Maidstone, with Amber winning the ball and creating a lovely pass to Lilia, who drove towards Holcombe’s defence to slip the ball to Tracey however it was Sophie that got in on the rebound. Now, determined, Maidstone kept pushing until the half time whistle however it still remained 1-0. During the second half, Holcombe started to look stronger on the attack but nothing was getting past our strong defence of Lou, Freya, Maddy and Rebecca. Tash made some significant saves when she was needed during a few short corners and Freya had a fantastic game at the back. The midfield of Hazel and Carly distributed the ball to wide players while also passing lovely through balls to the forwards. We were resilient and we won multiple short corners and looked very dangerous whilst attacking. We went 2-0 up after we won a short corner and Bethan pushed out beautifully however the straight strike was denied by Holcombe’s defence, but Lilia slipped it back to Bethan who scored her first goal for the Ladies’ 2s and it was fantastic!
