The return match

In the first of the Invicta division 6b return matches, Maidstone Ladies 4s played against the University of Kent having lost their first battle 9-1. The University of Kent, with only 8 players, showed unwavering resolve against a determined Maidstone side.

The initial half witnessed a tightly contested battle for control, culminating in Rebekah Maynard's precise strike, securing the first goal for Maidstone. Following suit, the impressive junior talent, Kiera, swiftly added another goal, setting the tone for Maidstone's dominance.

At halftime, coach Tom Elstone's pep talk fueled Maidstone's resolve, resulting in a considered and determined approach to the second half. The team, inspired by their 2-0 lead, kept fighting for those goals, evident as junior player Amber swiftly scored a goal. Rebekah Maynard secured her second goal not long after that.

However, University of Kent showcased their tenacity, capitalizing on a break to invade Maidstone's defensive half, leading to a crucial penalty corner. Despite Maidstone's strategic preparations, University of Kent displayed their prowess, scoring a goal, breaking through the defenders.

Undeterred, Maidstone pressed on, exhibiting their offensive flair with another goal from Kiera, extending their lead to 5-1. As the rain intensified, Rebekah Maynard showcased her exceptional goalkeeping skills, securing her third goal, concluding the match at a commanding 6-1.

The teamwork of Nicky Bourne, Laura Boorman, Tegan Wimble, and Kate Bowen in midfield proved instrumental in creating scoring opportunities for the attackers, facilitating Maidstone's remarkable goal tally.

Kiera and Rebecca Maynard's outstanding contributions earned them joint accolades as players of the match, acknowledging their exceptional performances on the field.
