A tough first game for the season

Despite a fantastic first goal of the game from Michelle Garrett in the first half, the ladies 4s faced a tough game against the University of Kent team. With 11 players and no subs, we knew it would be a tricky match.

Midfielder Kate Bowen made her second ever appearance in goal for the ladies 4s team, for which we were all very grateful. She saved shot after shot from the opposition, even saving one with her leg causing a significant bruise.

With back to back short corners, the University of Kent Team scored 6 goals in the first half.

Despite the score, all Maidstone players kept pushing through in the second half for a few shots on goal, unfortunately these did not make it past the opposition goal keeper.

With 3 more opposition goals in the second half, the final score was 9-1 to the University of Kent. However, every player for the ladies 4s played brilliantly.

Player of the match votes:
1.5 votes each to Michelle Garrett and Freya
2 votes to Laura Boorman
2.5 votes to new player Bella
3.5 to player of the match and volunteer goal keeper, Kate Bowen

As Captain, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who played this game, especially all of those who played outside of their usual positions. Also, thank you to our cheerleader Elliot Robinson for making personalised cakes for everyone who played for a much deserved snack after the game.
