Disappointingly for the second week running Maidstone got off to a slow start and conceded within the first 10 minutes. However from the restart Maidstone began to find some form with the defence standing firm allowing the midfield to dominate and start forcing some short corners. The increasing pressure then allowed Jen Duggan to drive up the right into the d and slip the ball into the path of Claire Daniels to skilfully slot the ball into the net for Maidstone to equalise.
The rest of the half was fairly even unfortunately with just a few minutes to half time Old bords converted a chance to lead 2-1 at the break.
OBs started the second half very strongly with high pressing forcing the whole Maidstone team to sit deep in their own half and paid the price conceding 2 more goals in the space of 10 mins.
Maidstone then got themselves back in the game having the better attacking play with the whole team working together to move the ball up the pitch and creating plenty of chances and one was soon taken when again excellent work down the right from Jen Duggan allowed her to set up Pom Claire Daniels to score hers and Maidstone’s second in what was practically a carbon copy of the first. With a little under 10 mins left Maidstone we’re pushing hard to take something from the game yet despite their dominant play just couldn’t find that final touch. Final score 2-4
