Saturday’s game saw Maidstone 2s at home v Old Williamsonians. In the first
2 minutes of the game, Old Wills took advantage of Maidstone’s sleepy
defence and scored an early goal. The rest of the first half was then fairly
equal with both teams having chances of changing the score sheet but ending
1-0 to Old Wills.
After an uplifting team talk at half time, Maidstone took advantage of a
deflected pass and ran the ball into the D where 3 passes around Old Wills
defence from Victoria O’Reilly to Rachel Davies and onto Jen Duggan who
buried the shot, evening the score line. Maidstone then took an opportunity
from a short corner by slipping left to player of the match Gracey Mei Wilsher
who secured Maidstone’s 2-1 lead. Old Wills continued to attack but could not
break Maidstone’s defence, even on a penalty corner with only Carly Brinn,
Kitty Worsfold and goalkeeper Georgia Wishart remaining, after 2 misruns
from the home team leaving the final score 2-1 win to Maidstone.
