Ladies 2s v Gravesend

Maidstone played Gravesend and started really well and almost scored in the first 10 minutes from a fabulous shot by Lou Cassey. Millie Jones tried to bring it down but ended up clearing the shot. This didn't deter Maidstone and we carried on trying to break down Gravesend's defence.

Gravesend were awarded a short corner, but Carly Brinn was too quick, and the corner had to be retaken. Unfortunately Ella Collie got caught on the foot by a close range shot from Gravesend and had to come off the pitch. Lou Cassey moved back into defence to replace Ella Collie and once again Maidstone carried on trying to break down play, Jenny Duggan had a few shots on goal but were saved. Millie Jones and Hannah (U18) linked up well and it was good to have Kate (U18) back in the midfield. Gravesend had a few breaks, but Tabitha (U18) made some great saves. Half time finished 0-0.

Maidstone looked the stronger side but were caught on the break and Gravesend managed to put the ball in the back of the net. Maidstone did not let this put us off our attacking play and we continued to probe Gravesend's Defence.

Phoebe (U18) made some solid tackles at the back and linked well with Jaime Blythe and Ellie Doherty. Jenny Duggan managed to win a short corner and Maddie Jarvis found the back of the net. Maidstone continued to push for another goal but with 30 seconds left of the game, lost the ball and Gravesend counterattacked. A foul in the D meant Gravesend were awarded a short corner. Thankfully Maidstone were able to defend it and the game finished 1-1. Another point in the bag!
