Maidstone 2 - 2 New Beccehamian

Maidstone went into the match with much higher spirits than the previous week as it was sunnier and there was no rain. The match started off with New Beccehamian's pushback, meaning that Maidstone had to quickly put the pressure on to keep them away from the D. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before the opposition managed to hit the ball onto a foot in the D and went on to score a quick goal a little after.

Phoebe (U18), Ella Collie and Rebecca Jarvis held the back line strong keeping the opposition out wide after the goal. Maddy Jarvis and Carly Brinn supported just in front of the defence, helping to pick up the players in the middle and make some excellent tackles to regain possession. Goalie, Tabitha (U18), made some wonderful saves in the defensive short corners (resulting in a well-deserved player of the match), with Maddy Jarvis also making a great save on the right post. It wasn't long before Maidstone worked the ball up to the opposition's D and gained a short corner in which Hannah (U18) was able to score a goal from a great hit past the goal keeper, making it 1-1 at half time.

Maidstone fought hard in the second half but the opposition were unfortunately able to slip in another goal from a tap in from the p-spot. Maidstone kept their heads up, and had some wonderful runs along the right wing from Rebecca Jarvis with the aid of Hazel (U18), to help get the ball up the pitch. Kathryn Goodwin, Hannah (U18) and Millie Jones all had some excellent skills and tackles to help get the ball up to Georgia South, Jenny Duggan and Lou Cassey who made some very quick runs with the ball along the back line.

Maidstone had to shift positions around for the last ten minutes after Rebecca Jarvis was unfortunately hit on the hand by the ball. Despite the change of positions, Maidstone continued to fight for another potential goal. With not long left, Maidstone were able to get another short corner; the ball was slipped left then right, allowing Georgia South to score her first 2s goal, bringing the score to 2-2! After the equalising goal, everyone worked very hard to keep the opposition away from the D, securing the first draw of the season and the first point of season (much to Ella's delight)!
