Maidstone ladies 3’s continue their wining steak with another 3 points beating Tunbridge Wells 4’s away at Hawkenbury Road. Half time & full time score was 2-1 to Maidstone with goals from Madeleine Jarvis and Grace Siddoway.
With every game being a must win at this stage of the season Maidstone 3’s put in a strong team performance. Following several shots on goal in the first half by Madeleine Jarvis, Julie Davies, Jaime Cronk, Ellie Doherty and Grace Siddoway all saved by the opposition keeper we continued with composure to battle hard and were finally rewarded with a goal or so we thought!! Confusion reigned as the umpire did not get a clear view of the ball crossing the goal line and following protests from both sides Maidstone were rightly awarded a penalty flick. Up stepped Madeleine Jarvis and convincingly beat the keeper to put Maidstone up 1-0. With persistence and perfect positioning in the D by Grace Siddoway she finished off a cross in by Madeleine Jarvis to give Maidstone a second goal. With 30 seconds to go to half time Tunbridge Wells made a quick break away and finished with a clear shot on goal.
Both teams battled hard against the strong winds throughout the second half but Maidstone’s continued sterling defensive play kept Tunbridge Wells out of the game to get a well deserved win. A win that would not have happened without the outstanding performance of Grace Siddoway who was awarded player of the match with 11 votes.
