Maidstone got off to a flying start following an early short corner converted skilfully by Jaime Cronk within the first 3 minutes of the game. Maidstone continued to apply pressure and dominated the first half with great play using the full width of the pitch and excellent driving of the base line by Jaime Cronk. With only a minute to go in the first half Madeleine Jarvis received an excellent ball and with her silky skills easily defeated a defender at the top of the D to score from a perfect strike.
Maidstone were unlucky when Uni of Kent scored from a breakaway run and a poorly marked player took her opportunity & scored. Uni of Kent again got lucky with an unfortunate deflection in the air seeing Maidstone score an own goal. Jo Hernon (Maidstone’s keeper) worked hard in the second half with increased pressure from Uni of Kent, saving several hits on goal. However Maidstone dug deep and proved that a team performance can win through. Grace Siddoway continued to apply pressure on the opposition keeper and was rewarded when she capitalised on a deflection from the keeper and put the ball in the back of the goal. A fantastic win by Maidstone Ladies 3’s.
