The game started with both teams attacking with determination, Burnt Ash made a few early breaks at pace, and gained a few short corners, but great saves by keeper, Darren Marchant, meant they amounted to nothing. A quick break by Burnt Ash mid way through the first half put them 1-0 up. After battling constantly Maidstone won a short corner and after the first flick was saved, a stunning rebound into the roof of the net by Matt Emery put Maidstone equal going into half time.
Both teams came out fighting in the second half, a fast break lead to a short corner for Burnt Ash which they capitalised on and took the lead. about 20 minutes later a lovely run along the baseline by Phil Luton, and a slip back to captain Jimmy Christmas who placed the ball in the bottom corner levelled the score. The game continued to be very equal and end to end, but a miscommunication in Maidstone’s defence resulting in Burnt Ash winning a short corner with minutes left, which they converted, took the lead again and carried that to the end of the game beating Maidstone with a final score of 3-2.
Maidstone will be looking for their first league win of the season at home to Worthing on Saturday @ 13:45.
