On Saturday the Ladies 1s host local rivals Holcome in a top of the table (East Region Premier) clash. This match (to be played at 13.45pm) promises to be a real cracker - MHC ladies beat ubeaten top-of-the-table Dereham just before Christmas.

JUNIORS DO THE BIZ

Amazing – what a fantastic effort from everyone and what brilliant results.

Not only did Maidstone manage to avoid 99% of the day’s rain , the juniors also recorded some of their best tournament results.

Facing three strong teams from Tunbridge Wells and two tough Sevenoaks sides, Maidstone managed to finish the day with five straight wins – not only this, they scored 11 great goals without conceding at all.

The passing was excellent, some of the movement off the ball was the best we’ve managed all season and the teamwork was great.

Ourcongratulations to everyone

The results they were:

3-0 v Tunbridge Wells.

3-0 v Sevenoaks

1-0 v Tunbridge Wells

2-0 v Sevenoaks

2-0 v Tunbridge Wells

There should be a special mention for Annabelle, Alex Denny and Alex Penry, who agreed to make up the number for opposition sides – they played really well, even against their Maidstone team-mates!

MORE INDOOR SUCCESS

During June and July, Maidstone Men's Indoor Hockey team took part in an invitational tournament at St. Bedes College in Eastbourne. The team went unbeaten in the pool stages and finished top of their group, which saw them through to a semi-final berth on final’s night. After safely negotiating their way through to the final with a resounding 10-3 win, the team hoped they had enough left in the tank to take the title. After a tight first half going into the break 2-0 up, Maidstone showed their class in the second half running out eventual 9-2 winners and lifting the Trophy as deserved tournament Champions. The successful squad over the campaign was Kevin Johnson (Player/Coach), Tom Nissen (Captain), Darren Marchant, Chris Bassano-Harper, Will Hutchings, Rob Fullerton-Batten, Rob Smith, Iain Brine, Jon Cooper, George Torry, Greg Laurenson & Joe Meaning.
