Open Game

A severely understrength 6XI traveled for the early pushback at Ashford.  Playing against a skillful and well resourced Ashford, Maidstone decided attack was the best for of defence in the first half, rushing to a quick 2-0 lead thanks to goals for Jim Mendoza and Duncan Beer, both created by John Turnbull

Ashford clawed a goal back, but Maidstone closed the first half with a reaction shot from Phil Davison, giving Stones a 3-1 lead at halftime

After the break, Ashford changed their formation and took control of the middle of the park, clawing back to a 3-3 score and threatening to extend if not for a MoM performance by Ian Linstead to keep things tidy at the back.

With 10 to go, Maidstone reverted to a more attacking shape, and a goal was forthcoming from a beautiful set piece, finished by Davison to extend his goalscoring run.

However, with the last hit of the game Ashford snatched an equaliser to end this very open game 4-4, meaning the 6s are still only beaten once this season.
