Maidstone Mens 6s
Gore Court 5
|Date||Saturday 29th October|
|Scorers||Jacob Taylor 2, Graham Clarkson|
Maidstone started brightly in what proved their toughest game of the season so far. Both teams fielded young sides and both sets of players were passing well. Maidstone took the lead after Simon Emery won a short corner, which was tapped in by Jacob Taylor, after Graham Clarksons near post shot was deflected by Gore Court’s keeper. The lead did not last long as a fiercely struck penalty corner levelled the scores. Within 5 minutes Maidstone conceded another as keeper Mike Smith just missed a deceptive shot. This spurred Gore Court on and some strong defensive work from Jamie Graham and Daniel Bristow kept the score to 2v1 at the break. Gore Court started the stronger in the second half and scored a third goal well taken goal. With just the bare 11 players Maidstone could have let their heads drop, but everyone kept up the work rate and fought hard and when Graham Clarkson just diverted a short corner strike past the Gore Court keeper, a tense finish was on the cards. The game became a real end to end affair and after a great passing move Jacob Taylor scored his second to give Maidstone a deserved point.
