Burnt Ash 6

2012 Starts with Another Win
In the only club league fixture of the day, Maidstone 6s travelled to Burnt Ash to kick off the second half of the season. With a club debut for Ben White, Maidstone set out from the start with an attacking approach. The midfield pairing of Men of the Match Thrower and Mendoza dominated proceedings, and the pace of White down the right wing proved overwhelming for Burnt Ash, who quickly reverted to a Bus Parking exercise to crowd Maidstone out in the box.
All potential attacks and probes from Burnt Ash were successfully snuffed out by the back four of Dann, Park, Linsted and O’Conner, but Maidstone’s chances at the other end, for all their possession, were proving to be snatches from tight angles or balls that were just slightly out of reach.
The second half picked up where the first ended, and Maidstone continued to press. Eventually the pressure told, and a slick passing movement across the entire midfield line ended up with a ball to Matt Evans, who converted with an outstanding nearpost shot on the turn and going away from the ball
Maidstone continued to press but failed to convert any further chances. However, an exciting debut for White, and a further clean sheet for Ryan Dann and his defence extended this good run of form and completed the season double over their opponents. With the return of many of the team to come, the second half of the season look promising.
Maidstone Men 6s next play at home to Gore Court, where they will look to do the double in back to back matches.
