Brace By Pomphrey Seals Second Win

Another three points were picked up by Maidstone with a great win against Bexleyheath and Belverdere.  Maidstone took time to adjust to the extremely slow sandy pitch but soon had the beating of the defence with penetrating balls using the width on both sides of the pitch .  The opener came from switching  play left to right, a Helen Brown cross that was pulled back for Kate Pomphrey to neatly reverse  stick it into the corner of the goal.  Lapse in concentration saw an equaliser just before half time.  The winner was found midway during the second half by Kate Pomphrey.  The defence then had to withstand some continual pressure through numerous penalty corners which saw keeper Sarah Ward make some fantastic saves to preserve Maidstone’s lead.   Brogan Cummins started her first game for the threes who battled well up front and player of the match was Meg Hersey for her energetic  play up and down the right  Maidstone have now moved up to dizzy heights of fourth in the Kent  Division 1 league.
