Another Win

Maidstone ladies 2s made it 3 wins from 3 after another impressive performance against a feisty Gravesend side. Maidstone started the game well and were soon 1-0 up after the excellent Brogan Cummins scored her 3rd goal of the season after some nice build up play. However Gravesend gradually dragged themselves back into the game with some aggressive, physical play which restricted the open flowing hockey that Maidstone were playing. Gravesend managed to level the match after a succession of short corners as half time approached. However Maidstone stuck to their game plan and were rewarded with a short corner of their own which Sue Smith duly converted for the 2nd time in successive games. Maidstone went into the break leading 2-1.

After the break Maidstone showed impressive discipline to rise above the Gravesend players who seemed intent on questioning every decision. This proved costly to the away side as Maidstone were able to rediscover their form and run out a trouble free second half which could have seen them score a handful. As it was they only added one more to the scoreline as Jody Goodwin executed superbly to put the home side 3-1 up. Olivia Fearon was voted player of the match for her solid defence and excellent distribution at left half.
