CHAIRMAN'S REPORT

OCTOBER '09

Dear Member and Visitor We are a month or so into the season and results overall are shaping up well. While the league performance of the Men’s first team has so far been a bit rocky they pulled out a stunning away win against national league Bromley & Beckenham in the 2nd round of the EH Cup. We are rewarded with a 3rd round home tie on November 1st against Urmston who play in the North of England leagues. Push back is at 2.30 please come and support and help our guys into the fourth round! Thank you to all those who volunteered to marshal at the Maidstone Half Marathon. Fifty of us turned out to support this event and a few actually ran it. Maidstone Harriers were delighted that their big event went off so well. The Pub “golf” night was a great success. Next up is the Halloween quiz night on 30th October. Our unique style of quiz is always well supported, please enter a team. The conversion to collecting all fees by bank standing order has been well received, especially by captains who now do not have match fee collection as a chore. There are still a few players who have not yet set their payment up but well over 90% have. If you are one of the few still to act please sort this out now before we resort to imposing deselection. We are moving forward quickly with changing our kit. All Ladies' and now the Men's first and seconds are equipped with the new shirt and socks. These will be rolled out to the rest of the Men’s teams on a team by team basis when each team wishes to convert. Meanwhile orders are now being taken for personalized Hoodies and Polo shirts. Other items are also being progressed. For the time being please channel any order through Chris Daniels and Swaffer. The 2009 JDC is now well under way; we run the Mid Kent JDC where over 50 youngsters at U13 and U14 level train at MHC on Monday nights. We will run the county wide girls JAC again, starting Jan 2010. Our own junior section is thriving thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of coaches, we are always open to more juniors so if you are interested please give MHC a try. If you are a prospective new member, welcome to our website. You will see from a tour of the site that Maidstone is a vibrant, successful and sociable club. We run seven Men's sides ranging from South Premier to Kent Open Division 5. Our four Ladies' sides range from East Premier to Kent Open Divison 4. Our teams operate on a squad basis so there is always plenty of opportunity to slot new players in. We have a strong youth section, and boys and girls from age 5 up are always welcome. For parents it will be particularly important for you to know that we are a fully accredited "ClubsFirst" club. This confirms our standing as a child friendly and safe club; most hockey clubs have not achieved this status. Sunday morning training is running; just turn up. If you wish to find out more about our club or wish to hire our fantastic facilities please try the number or email address shown on this site that most closely fits your enquiry but if you are unsuccessful then email me.
